Ugandan Bikers’ 1,000km Euro-Tour to Boost Tourism
Uganda’s leisure biking community has partnered with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) for a 1,000-kilometre motorcycle expedition across six European countries in a campaign dubbed “Pearl on Wheels”. The campaign is aimed at promoting Uganda’s you sector, culture, and promotion of road safety.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Uganda Bikers Association (UBA), is intended to complement ongoing government and private sector efforts to increase international awareness and visibility of Uganda’s tourism potential.

Spanning six European nations, the six-day biking tour will see 15 riders traverse Italy, Germany, France, Hungary, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. The journey is scheduled to begin on June 22, 2026.

Germany will receive special focus during the expedition because of its iconic place in the global motorcycle industry and its connection to BMW, one of the world’s most celebrated motorcycle manufacturers.

Speaking about the initiative, UTB Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa described the partnership as an opportunity to market Uganda’s tourism potential.

"When we realized we could bike with a purpose, we knew we couldn't miss this incredible opportunity to export the Uganda brand. Our team immediately came on board to amplify our 'Explore Uganda' message, providing these twenty-plus biking ambassadors with the content and support needed to invite international travelers along their route to come home and experience the Pearl of Africa." Says Kaggwa.

Uganda Bikers Association (UBA) President Angella Ssemukutu popularly known in biking circles as Angie Bae emphasized that the partnership is a vital opportunity to showcase the Pearl of Africa to the world.

"We are heading to Europe with a clear purpose: to promote the 'Explore Uganda' campaign," Ssemukutu said. "As bikers, we will be using our machines to invite the European community to visit Uganda and experience its unique beauty, from our warm hospitality and vibrant culture to our incredible food."

Scheduled for next week from May 22nd to 23rd at Speke Resort Munyonyo, the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2026 (POATE 2026) will serve as the official flag-off grounds for the European biking excursion.
